Incarcerated Youth

Ohio, like many cash strapped states, as seen the funding for community mental health resources cut. The result has led to an increase in incarcerated youth with some form of a mental illness. After a class action lawsuit, Ohio's Department of Youth Services has made attempts to increase the mental health treatments for its youths. It is estimated that about two thirds of the nation's incarcerated youth have at least one diagnosed mental illness.
